Earthwatch Teach Earth Video Case Studies & Photography

Connecting communities with nature, to help inspire the next generation

Earthwatch UK is an environmental charity that believes that working together is the key to tackling the challenges which threaten the natural world. We’ve worked with the team at Earthwatch UK for a number of years on a variety of projects, documenting their work connecting communities with the natural environment. We’ve primarily focused on their education programmes, where they run a range of projects; from transforming school grounds into nature-rich spaces, to training Educators to become leaders in outdoor education, the impact Earthwatch is having is inspiring to see.

With a particular focus on giving children from urban areas the opportunity to experience nature for themselves, our brief is always to document the impact the programmes are having on the attendees. It’s always really obvious that both the children and the educators have so much fun during these projects. The outdoor nature of the workshops allows Educators to feel the benefits of outdoor learning for themselves, so they leave inspired to do the same for their own students.

The hope is that these projects ignite a passion for nature, one that can be nurtured throughout their education and beyond. Therefore capturing those all important candid moments is a key focus of our shooting process on the day. While the relaxed, handheld camera work & the informal interview set-up, allows us to reflect the fluid, hands-on style of the workshops. The result is a variety of flexible, high-value content which can be used across multiple platforms for a wide range of uses; whether that’s encouraging project engagement or quantifying the success of a project to stakeholders.
