Ribble Cycles 125 Brand Campaign Film

A film celebrating 125 years of pioneering British cycling brand, Ribble Cycles.

Ribble Cycles are a British Bike Company established in Lancashire in 1897. Their 125th Anniversary was an opportunity to appreciate how far the company has come, a chance to celebrate it’s past as well as it’s future. We were approached by the marketing team at Ribble to produce a film to mark this anniversary. The brief was to create a film that encapsulated what Ribble Cycles has achieved over the last 125 years, whilst showing the journey the company has been on in the process.

The film was to feature material that had been stored in the Ribble vault over the years; analog photographic slides of the old factory & iconic vintage cycling magazines featuring bygone Ribble teams. The transition from analog to modern culminating in the fast tracking shot of the classic 1980’s Ribble steel-framed cyclist (complete with mullet, no less), being overtaken by the aerodynamic carbon framed, lycra-clad cyclist of today. This divergence is also reflected in the fashion, geometry and position of the performance-driven cyclist on the latest high-specifcation Ribble bike. Celebrating the Ribble philosophy, as pioneers & innovators within the bike industry, honouring their past whilst pledging to always explore new ground.

The film is intercut with footage of the full Ribble production; from design & testing, through to painting and mechanics. Showing the scale & depth of research that goes into producing each and every Ribble bicycle. As the film builds, we see how the product range has evolved; from gravel and mountain bikes, through to town and electronically assisted bikes, there is a bike for everyone. Highlighting the extent at which Ribble Cycles has grown, from their humble origins in Lancashire, to becoming one of the longest-established bicycle manufacturers in the world.
