Second City Divide Photography
Documenting an incredible new bikepacking route between Manchester & Glasgow
‘Second City Divide’ is a bikepacking route from Manchester to Glasgow, taking in some of the most incredible landscapes the UK has to offer. We paired up with Katherine Moore (katherinebikes.com) via our sister project, the For The Hell of It.cc cycling collective, to capture 5 days of cycling & wild camping on camera. The brief was a simple one; pedal your bike, wild camp, drink some beers & take a few photos. The route is incredible & we felt lucky to be asked to go along to capture it. The ride turned out to be much harder than anyone had anticipated, but this just makes it all the more rewarding, right...
Cycling and photographing is also a lot more challenging when you’re also carrying all your camping gear & equipment for 5 days at the same time… not our usual production that’s for sure! But without that, you wouldn’t get the impromptu photos that give a real insight into what it feels like to attempt such a challenging route. The result is a super fun series of photos, reflecting the enjoyment that can be had simply by pedaling on two wheels. Katherine wrote a day-by-day account of the trip, whilst we designed and produced the magazine, with the profits going to the Mountain Bothies Association & Great North Air Ambulance Service.
