Wales Millenium Centre Social Media Content

Celebrating the voices of young people involved with Wales’ National Arts Centre

The WMC brings together communities & organisations from across the whole of South Wales, by hosting creative workshops & providing opportunities for the next generation to develop their creativity. We were asked to produce a series of short films to document these events with the main aim of encouraging other young people to participate in future events.

Each of the films is to shine a spotlight on the huge range of opportunities WMC offers young people; from creative apprenticeships, workshops & courses, through to dedicating a physical space for young people to socialise & be creative in. The target audience for the series of films were under 25s, so we needed the films to be fun but concise, enabling the films to be shared on social media easily.

When it came to the production we kept the team small, to allow each of the film's subjects to feel at ease when it came to recording their interview. There is a really unique, relaxed & informal feel to the WMC and this is something we wanted to capture for these projects, so we ditched the tripods and went for a handheld feel. The relaxed and improvisational style of the films we produced enabled us to get the best out of the talent & allowed creativity to thrive. Together with their fantastic team, mentors & enthusiastic young people, we’ve been able to produce a series of inspiring, creative & fun films that deliver on their ambition to educate people on the inspirational community work that the WMC does. The final films are a true celebration of the role it plays in being the real home of performing arts for South Wales.
